It has been an interesting first week in Buenos Aries. We stayed in the Palermo neighborhood, which has a multitude of food options. It was a great way to start the trip. Here are some highlights and oddities of the first week.
The Steaks
Of course, this is beef country and every menu has steaks. We somehow weazled our way into the most popular parilla in town, Don Julio, without reservations. We ordered a flank steak–each plate has ONE QUARTER of the steak we shared.
We managed to avoid having steak for every meal. Our next beef adventure was also a tango adventure. We went to Gala Tango in San Telmo. Amazing show, but we couldn’t take pictures. I did capture the huge steaks we had.

Last night in BA, we went out to dinner to a parilla, and didn’t order steak. I had trout and Andrea had the cheesiest cannelloni either of us had ever seen. We’ll spare you pictures of all the food, but we had to share the dessert. It looked like bloody steak and mashed potatoes! Actually malbec soaked pears with vanilla ice cream.

The Oddities
We ran into some odd translations and other oddities. Here’s a screenshot from Google translate when we were trying to figure out a the menu:

Not sure what this store was selling, but we weren’t buying:

We’re in a really odd area of Tigre right now called Nordelta. We’re at a Wyndham well past its heyday in a planned development trying to figure out how we got here. Found this in the mini bar that looked like something a trucker chucked out the window. We went out for “New York” pizza, and this is how they were promoting it.

Liquid Dinner
We did have a night where we wandered into the wine bar on the corner of the block near our hotel. They had countless wines on tap, all served cold in 12oz beer bottles for $4 each. Two rounds, and we forgot to have dinner.

Nice to read your adventures!! Glad you’re having fun ☺
LOL… love the oddities, I think your “pear” steak is the only one portioned as edible by one person (wow that’s a lot of steak!!)
Love the NY pizza “advertising” and the wine bar dinner!
That humanoid pizza is going to give me nightmares…
