Okay, we’re touring the chicken head of Slovenia (yes, the locals say the country looks like a chicken–check it out) in the town of Ptuj. Yes, it is “pitooy” like spitting. Weird to say over and over again. The territory is thick with castles and grape vines. It’s our last night in Slovenia (10-September-2022), and we toured Ptuj Grad (Spit Castle, if you like). Not enough time for a full post and more to come on our Slovenian travels. For the curious, we’re on to Zagreb, Croatia tomorrow.
Anyway, we wanted to share one really funny artifact we encountered in the castle. It is so odd that we later found out it was also called out in our guidebook. We just had to share.

This is a wonderful statue of St. George nonchalantly slaying the dragon, almost as an afterthought on his way to something else. “Hello. Oh, a dragon. What a bother. I’ll just take care of that and move on. Cheerio.” Well, at least Jake was amused.
Poor dragon….and St. George is stepping on him.
