The past two days we visited sites across the city of Buenos Aires. Highlights included the Japanese Garden, the city center, Puerto Madera along the water behind Casa Rosada, and the Recoleta neighborhood with the city’s famous cemetery.
Japanese Garden

Here are a couple photos of the Japanese garden near the Palermo neighborhood where we are staying. The garden was donated to the city by the Japanese immigrant population.
Puetro Madera

The city is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by a canal system that used to be the trade hub with brick warehouses. The warehouse buildings have been converted into residences and restaurants. Very touristy. The bridge in the distance is the Puenta de la Mujer bridge, representative of a tango dancer’s leg in motion.
Puerto Madera is behind the Casa Rosada, the presidential residence where the famous balcony is where many public addresses were given by Evita and others.
Recoleta

Recoleta is home of the cemetery where many of the city’s famous are interred, as well as families of common citizens. It is the final resting place of Evita Peron, where she is interred in the Duarte family vault. We didn’t try to find it. The place is VAST!
Other highlights are the flower sculpture in the park by the cultural museum, and one of several HUGE rubber trees more than 100 years old that are scattered around the city. This one has a sculpture holding up one of the branches.
I love that sculpture holding up the branch!
Curious – have you been eating?
Hey, yes lots of food. Haven’t published food pictures yet. Also obviously need help with the blog. Any WordPress tips? I’ll make a food post.
